This is how Jeison Murillo’s partner at Celta de Vigo will face his sentence for sexual abuse

There are several news that have been presented recently around Jason Murillothe Colombian central defender at the service of Celta Vigoin the first division of Spanish football.

In the first place, the sky-blue club, with which he has not been able to have the expected prominence, would not make effective the purchase option stipulated in the contract that was signed between both parties when the player arrived at the team, on loan from the Italian club. Sampdoriawhich indicates that he would return to Italy at the end of the season.

The Argentine coach Edward Coudet He would have stated that he does not include Murillo in his plans for the next tournament. In the current season, the Colombian has only participated in 17 games. In total, there have been 1,079 minutes in which he has accumulated five yellow cards and has not managed to convert a single goal. The last appearance of him took place on April 17, for the date 32 of LaLiga, before Athletic Club of Bilbaoin a game that his team ended up winning 2 – 0.

According to the portal Transfermarkt, Murillo’s file is valued at 4 million euros. That would be the figure that any club would have to pay if they decided to take him. In his best moment, the player came to cost around 18 million euros, when he was one of the star defenders in Serie A, playing for the Inter de Milan. Little by little, his performances went down in level and he began his journey through teams in Spain and Italy. From Inter he jumped to Valencia and from there to Barcelonawhere, probably, he experienced one of his worst sporting decisions, as he failed to gain a foothold and ended up being sold to Sampdoria, who loaned him to Celta in April 2020, in one of his lowest football periods.

Today, the 29-year-old defender is the tenth most valuable player on his squad and hopes to regain his good level, the one that made him be among the first chosen to wear the Colombia national team shirt, between 2015 and 2018, and be one of the the best center backs in Latin America.

Secondly, the atmosphere within his team, Celta, is not the most encouraging, neither for him nor for his teammates. Although the team has just won 4 – 0 against Alavés, in the most recent date of the Spanish tournament, it is far from qualifying for European tournaments, occupying the 11th place in the standings, with 43 points , adding two wins, one draw and two losses in their last five games. Recently, aside from their football results, a piece of news has impacted them and has turned the focus of the press on that particular event and not on what really has to do with their game and their interests as a club.

Santi Mina, the 26-year-old Spanish striker, a former Valencia player, has been sentenced to four years in prison for sexual abuse. The sentence was given on May 4, when the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA) reported that the footballer had used sexual violence against a woman in June 2017, when Mina was on vacation, along with his friend and also footballer David Goldar, today with UD Ibiza, from the second division of Spanish professional football.

The Provincial Court of Almería, a month and a few days after hearing the case, has ruled that Mina must comply with this sentence, acquitting him of sexual assault, an even more serious crime that would have given him up to eight years, and exempting Goldar, who was with him when the events occurred. The young player will not be able to approach less than 500 meters from the victim, for the next 12 years. His sentence has been declared under probation and he will have to compensate the victim with 50,000 euros.

Given this situation, Celta has decided to remove the player from any activity that relates him to the team. He will not wear the light blue shirt again, unless he is acquitted of the charges, since the sentence remains in progress, at the request of Mina’s defense to resort to it, since there are “important errors in the assessment ”. The sentence has also not satisfied the opposing party, who testifies against the player, as they have expressed their desire to be placed in a provisional prison while the details are clarified.

By means of a statement, Celta has decided to open a disciplinary file on the player to elucidate his work responsibilities, in view of a resolution.

“For this reason, and as a precaution, it has been decided to temporarily remove the player from first team training,” the statement concludes.

The club’s manager has decided not to make any statements in this regard, as he considers it a sensitive issue, and prefers to focus the attention of the media on what is merely football. On the other hand, some players, such as Iago Aspas, has given his opinion on the matter and points out that Mina should not be so radically removed, since her contribution to the club has been important. However, both Aspas and the other players, including Jeison Murillo, have been warned to concentrate, ahead of their next games in the Spanish league, since the season is still ongoing and the goals have not been achieved.
