They seek to implement free legal sponsorship for minors who are victims of sexual abuse

The Government of Chubut participated in the Territorial Table for Addressing Sexual Abuse against Children and Forced Pregnancy, with the aim of building spaces for articulation.

The meeting was organized by UNICEF Argentina, the National Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, the Ministry of Social Development and the National Secretary for Children, Adolescents and Family.

In this regard, the Undersecretary for Human Rights, Carla Sánchez Galindo, pointed out that “From the Ministry, we are working to be able to implement the PatrocinAr Program in our province, which consists of free legal sponsorship and interdisciplinary support for children and adolescents who are victims of sexual abuse”.

“Through this program, the State guarantees a lawyer or lawyer to people who are going through or have gone through acts of sexual abuse during their childhood or adolescence so that, free of charge, protective measures are taken, civil cases are carried out and/or criminal; and the legal advice that it requires is carried out»completed Sánchez Galindo.

The new program was presented by the Minister of Justice and Human Rights of the Nation, Martín Soria, during the plenary session of the Federal Council of Justice (COFEJUS), together with the National Secretary for Children, Adolescents and Family Gabriel Lerner, representatives of UNICEF, in which was attended by the Minister of Government and Justice, Cristian Ayala, along with his peers from other provinces.

It is important to mention that the province has Law I – No. 284 for Aid to Victims of Violent Crimes and Against Sexual Integrity, fundamental for the work of strengthening and repairing victims in extreme states of vulnerability.

We are working on the construction of inter-institutional intervention and communication strategies at the different levels of government. The actions that we consider can contribute to an improvement in interventions in CSA and FB situations are: promotion and prevention campaigns, raising awareness among teams from different areas about the duty to communicate and the duty to report, and strengthening the dissemination of protocols and roadmaps for the inter-institutional approach.
